ESET Secure Authentication
Two-factor authentication adds another layer of security
for Outlook Web Access and Radius endpoints like VPNs
ESET Secure Authentication [ESA] provides powerful two-factor authentication to make remote access to the company VPN and OWA [Outlook Web Access] more secure.
- Unique passwords for each access to prevent the risk of breaches
- Two-factor one-time password authentication (2FA OTP) – mobile-based solution
- Software only solution – no need to carry additional device or token
- No additional hardware costs – fits your company’s current infrastructure
ESET Secure Authentication is a mobile based solution that uses one-time passwords (OTPs) for authentication of access into the company’s VPN and OWA (Outlook Web App). A one-time password is randomly generated that can’t be predicted or reused, in a “burn after reading”manner.
As opposed to a standard password, two-factor one-time password authentication (2FA OTP) uses two elements. These are “something that user knows”, e.g. a password or a PIN code, and “something that user has,” typically a mobile phone or hardware token. Used in combination, they provide greatly enhanced security for data access.
Employees, upon remotely accessing the company network using VPN or OWA, receive a one-time password on their mobile phones. This password is then used to complement and strengthen the usual authentication process. As a result, the company data and assets are better protected against intruders, dictionary attacks, password guessing, or other forms of cybercrime.
To distribute the ESET Secure Authentication app on mobile phones, all you need to know is the employee phone number. You only need to send an SMS with an activation link. Clicking on the link automatically downloads an installer for that mobile platform. Access to the app is PIN-protected to prevent any unauthorized manipulation.
